BY FLIGHT/AIR: Four airlines serve Srinagar, including Indigo, Jet Airways, Go Air, and Spicejet. These flights provide direct routes that take at least three hours to reach. Some flights may make one stop in New Delhi.
BY TRAIN: Alternatively, you can take the train. Swaraj Express and Vivek Express are two trains that run from Chennai. Swaraj Express operates four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday), whereas Vivek Express only operates on Fridays. The train arrives at Jammu Tawi Railway Station after traveling approximately 1480 kilometers in 27 hours. Taxis are available in Jammu for further travel.
BY ROAD: To get to Jammu and Kashmir from Chennai by road, take a bus to Delhi ISBT and then another to Jammu Bus Stand (600 km, 11 hours). For the 300-kilometer journey to Kashmir, start in Jammu and take a local sharing cab, bus, or taxi service. Bus services operate at night, and you can take Volvo or local buses. Taxis and shared cabs are available all day near the Railway Station, Jammu Bus Stand, and Gumat Chowk. The total travel time to Kashmir is about 8 to 10 hours.
